El Greco in Toledo

El Greco, whose real name was Domenikos Theotokopoulos, was a prominent painter of the Spanish Renaissance who found his home in Toledo, Spain. Born in Greece, he studied in Venice before settling in Toledo, where he produced some of his most famous works. El Greco is celebrated for his elongated figures and dramatic use of color and light, which can be seen in his many religious paintings and portraits that adorn the churches and museums of Toledo.
